mastering

Talk to me about mastering.
I can deliver a truly professional, carefully honed master which sounds great and will have been through a through quality control process.
I really care about high quality audio and want to make sure the client gets a finished product they can be proud of and which translates across all playback mediums.
For me it's all about dynamics...

For me it's all about dynamics...

I love dynamics in recorded music and I think most music fans do too. I always give the client the option of a dynamic master which retains punch and transient information.
I still aim to deliver a "competitive" master in terms of "volume" but with streaming services now normalising their playback levels it gives us the opportunity to keep masters dynamic.
If we deliver a master to Spotify and the average level is too loud then it just gets automatically turned down. In effect, "louder" ends up sounding "wimpier" - so there's no point to joining in the old "loudness wars".
By aiming for a target average level, which suits the music, it means we can make the master punchy and professional but without sacrificing the exciting dynamics.
Indeed, the more dynamic music now tends to appear louder !
I'm also able to handle remastering and audio restoration projects, along with transfers from legacy formats such as 1/4" analogue tape, DAT, vinyl and cassette.
Please contact me to discuss mastering your next project and know it's in safe hands !
